PROF. DR. YAVUZ KOCABEY
Orthopedics is the human body’s harmony with nature.
Born in Kırşehir, Prof. Dr. Yavuz Kocabey completed his primary and secondary education in Kırşehir and his high school education at the renowned Istanbul Kabataş Boys’ High School. He pursued his medical degree at Ankara Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. Following graduation and public clinical service at Adıyaman Besni State Hospital, he completed his residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Trakya University Faculty of Medicine in Edirne. Following service at Trabzon Of State Hospital, he commenced his academic career as Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Harran University Faculty of Medicine.
In 2001, he conducted clinical and biomechanical research at the University of Kentucky (KY, USA), followed by a 2-year clinical fellowship at the University of Louisville (KY, USA) specializing in sports injuries and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, and ankle, authoring numerous pioneering papers in leading international journals. He attained the title of Associate Professor in 2006, joining Acıbadem Hospital. In 2007, he pursued advanced fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery in the United States. He was appointed full Professor of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Acıbadem University in 2013, and currently delivers advanced clinical care, surgeries, and specialized patient care at his private clinic in Terrace Fulya, Istanbul.
KOCABEY PRESSFIT TECHNIQUE
The Kocabey Press Fit Technique is an innovative surgical procedure pioneered for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears and revision surgeries. Conventional ACL reconstructions typically drill separate bone tunnels in the femur and tibia, anchoring the graft with foreign implants or screws.
In contrast, the Kocabey Press Fit Technique anchors the biological graft directly via natural press-fit without needing tibial hardware. This biological fixation significantly reduces surgical morbidity and hardware complications. Patients experience a remarkably comfortable, pain-free postoperative recovery, starting early mobilization the morning after surgery and comfortably weight-bearing from day one.
