Hand & Wrist
The hand and wrist are essential anatomical structures that enable intricate manipulation and support countless daily activities. However, conditions affecting these areas can significantly impair functionality and diminish quality of life. Common disorders treated at our clinic include ganglion cysts and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Ganglion Kisti
A ganglion cyst is a benign, fluid-filled mass that commonly develops near the joints or tendons of the wrist and fingers, presenting as a visible lump. While often painless, it may cause mechanical discomfort or cosmetic concerns. While many cysts resolve spontaneously, surgical or minimally invasive aspiration may be indicated for persistent or painful cases.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve is compressed within the confined carpal tunnel at the wrist. This nerve provides sensation and motor control to the radial digits. Symptoms typically include nocturnal numbness, tingling, burning pain, and hand weakness. Therapeutic modalities include neutral wrist splinting, physical therapy, pharmacological management, or targeted surgical release.
Treatment
Hand and wrist disorders such as ganglion cysts and carpal tunnel syndrome are highly treatable with excellent clinical outcomes. Treatment strategy is tailored to disease chronicity, severity of neuro-mechanical symptoms, and overall patient requirements. Following thorough clinical examination by Prof. Dr. Yavuz Kocabey, an individualized treatment protocol is formulated to relieve symptoms, restore optimal joint kinematics, and ensure durable long-term recovery.
